"The ultimate agency xmas playlist"

Christmas is a time for people to get together and enjoy the festivities. Here at Access we are no different. Following our Christmas themed twitter feed last year, best remembered for slightly questionable turkey practises, we decided to reach out to our Twitter pals to put together an ultimate agency inspired Christmas playlist. We received plenty of suggestions and the following blog outlines who are responsible for each track. Selective readers may also watch each song in video form via the links in the song title.

The Final List

  1. Blur, "To the end"
The E-Word’s Managing Director and all round nice chap @iamdanielnolan got the ball rolling with this statement that ‘it’s almost over, we’ve nearly made it’

  2. Kelly Clarkson, "Underneath the tree"
Fellow Drupal enthusiast and all round awesome person @stephvhosny provides us with our second track. Described by Steph as ‘pretty cheese on toast but able to give Mariah a run for her snowflakes.

  3. The Pogues ft Kirsty MacColl, "Fairy tale of New York"
A huge hit with our community but suggested first by the lovely @Gemmaeccleston. Let the ugliest man in showbiz tickle your festive taste buds with this classic tale of love and booze.

  4. "12 Ghetto days of Christmas"
Not featuring on our Spotify playlist, the 12 Ghetto days of Christmas was suggested by our buddies down in the big smoke @TruffleSocial. Not for the faint hearted but definitely for those up for a few laughs.

  5. Destiny's Child, "8 days of Christmas"
This one from the trufflers made to playlist. A tip of the cap to the overly commercialistic folks at Christmas.

  6. James Brown, "Santa Claus go straight to the ghetto"
We called upon our pals at PR Agency One for this recommendation. When Christmas needs a funk injection, this will provide all you need.

  7. Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews, "Baby its cold outside"
Thanks to @_eltee for suggesting this Welsh wonderland of Christmassy love…old Tom Jones still has it!

  8. Nat King Cole, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire"
Traditionalists gather round. @rmandco suggested this classic which we’re very happy about. Now where are our chestnuts.

  9. Bing Crosby and David Bowie, "The Little Drummer Boy"
Great call from the festive fellow’s @ModernEnglish, the Spotify list doesn’t feature Bowie but those wanting a ziggy fix can click the title.

  10. Dean Martin, "Let it snow"
Crooners of the world unite. Who doesn’t love a bit of Deano?! @JakeMRJ certainly does.

  11. Mariah Carey, "Let it snow"
@TheEWord took after their MD Dan Nolan by suggesting this all-time classic…who do we choose, Kelly or Mariah?

  12. Bo Selecta, "Proper Crimbo"
Not featuring on the Spotify playlist is this hilarious tune from a pre Keith Lemon Leigh Francis. Thanks to @ClaudyLew for this one!

  13. Chris de Burgh, "Spaceman came a travelling"
Christmas playlist maker extraordinaire @TomBolts suggested this sing-a-long classic, La da da da….

  14. Jona Lewie, "Stop the cavalry"
Anybody proficient at whistling (and those who aren’t) will love the trumpets in this tune. Thanks to @martinbigdogs for giving us a tune to whistle.

  15. Boney M, "Mary's boy child"
Disco at Christmas? You bet! All thanks to @philf70

  16. Greg Lake, "I believe in Father Christmas"
Such a great song recommendation by @Ruby_Mae, interestingly the b-side for this song was called Humbug.

  17. The Darkness, "Christmas Time(don't let the bells end)"
If its tongue in cheek you’re after this Xmas, then look no further. @3monkeysPR sufficiently lower the tone!

  18. The Boss, "Santa Claus is coming to town"
When the boss of Access @SimonLandi requests the Boss of Rock and Roll, Bruce Springsteen. We say yes!

  19. Celtic Women, "O holy night"
Friends from over the pond @SocialProse give us another traditional classic

  20. Tim Minchin, "White Wine at Christmas"
Australian comedian and all round funny man spins his thoughts on Christmas into this epic 10 minute masterpiece. All thanks to @_han

  21. Mickey Bubbles and The Puppini Sisters, "Jingle Bells"
King of swing Michael Buble is joined by the Puppini sisters in this fabulously cheesy rendition of the carol singers favourit.Great shout from @SmokingGunPR

  22. Kate Rusby, "Sweet Bells"
Finally to round of the list is this lovely rendition of the classic traditional Christmas song. Thanks to our very own @neatejohn for the suggestion.
